Shenandoah Leaf Peeper Half and 10K and Festival of Leaves 5K Race-Day Info

This is it. We hope you are ready for some serious fun—and a few hills—at the Shenandoah Leaf Peeper half marathon and 10K and the Festival of Leaves 5K! There’s no better way to start the day. The half starting gun goes off at 7:30 am (with the others closely following), so make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes before then to park, get your race packet, warm up, and get ready to race.

The weather looks like it is going to be nice, crisp, and perfectly autumnal with temperatures in the 50s during race time on Sunday. Make sure you dress for the weather and keep hydrated. We will have four aid stations (two for the 5K) and a few bathroom stops on the course.

The course is marked (orange cones with blue arrows) and marshalls will be on hand to help direct you in some areas. Please note that the course is open to traffic, so it is imperative that you obey all traffic and safety rules. Headphones are not recommended; if you choose to wear them, they must be set at a reasonable volume to enable you to hear traffic and any instructions.

Once you’ve crossed the finish line and received your hard-earned medal, enjoy some post-race pie from The Apple House, stop by the timing tent and check your time, and hang around for the awards ceremony.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup is fastest and easiest when we can scan the unique QR code (those black squiggly lines) found on your confirmation email. (We will resend confirmation emails to all registrants once online registration closes.) Please either have the email open on your phone or print it out and bring it to packet pickup.

Saturday, October 8, 2016, 10:00 am-2:00 pm: Packet pickup during the Festival of Leaves, downtown Front Royal on Chester Street, near the gazebo and just to the north of Ivy Lodge (look for the Rev3 Adventure tent)

Sunday, October 9, 2016, 6:15 am: Packet pickup opens at the start/finish area in the Skyline High School parking lot in front of the football stadium (151 Skyline Vista Drive, Front Royal, VA 22630)

7:45 am: 5K starts

8:15 am: Post-race food is ready for finishers

8:30 am: 5K awards

9:00 am: 10K awards
