Final Spring Thaw Race-Day Info
It’s almost time for the last race of the Spring Thaw Trail Series. We’re so happy you’re joining us on the trails! On Saturday series sponsor Merrell will be crowning the male and female Trailmasters and giving them a $300 Merrell gift card! We also have lots of great prizes, giveaways, and on-site fun planned.
Please note that the trail runs start at 8:00 am, and the mountain bike races start at 10:00 am. If necessary, the rain date is April 23. We will let you know by 5:00 am Saturday via email and a post to our Facebook page if we will be postponing the event due to the weather.
Pre-Run/Ride Wednesday, April 6, 4:30-6:30 pm Come for a pre-ride or pre-run of the course in The Grant (intersection of Everfield Drive and Lavender Valley Court, Ashburn, VA 20148; see map) on Wednesday, April 6. Please arrive by 4:15 pm to start riding/running at 4:30 pm. This location is on private property and can only be accessed during organized events unless you are a resident. You must check in at the trail head before riding and running the trail.
This trail is moderately technical. One loop (Newbie division) is approximately 6.8 miles. The 10K and MTB route can be found here. Click here for the 5K route. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for any necessary updates.

Please spread the word that we offer online registration and race-day registration. We can take cash, check, and credit cards on site.
Race-Day Location and Parking Heading north on Evergreen Mills Road take a left onto Langley Oaks Dr. Take a left off Langley Oaks Dr. onto Everfield Dr. Stay on Everfield through the traffic island, and pass Homestead Landing Court. Continue through next traffic island on Everfield Drive until it ends. Park cars on the left side of Everfield Drive and look for the start and finish arch near the end of the road just beyond the intersection of Lavender Valley Ct. See map.
Race-Day Schedule
7:00 am: Packet pickup opens
7:00-7:45 am: Pre run/ride (Must be off the course by 8 am)
7:55 am: Trail runners: Pre-race brief for the 5K and 10K (Start line)
8:00 am: Race start for 5K and 10K
9:00 am: 5K awards
9:30 am: 10K awards
9:55 am: Mountain bikers: Pre-race brief for Young Warriors, Newbies, Weekend Warriors, and Trail Experts (Start line)
10:00 am: Race start for Weekend Warriors and Trail Experts
10:05 am: Race start for Young Warrior & Newbies
12:00 pm: MTB awards and crowning of Trailmasters
Please make sure you arrive at least 45 minutes before your race starts so that you have time to park, check in, and get to the start line.
Race-Day Packet Pickup Before you race you will need to pick up your bib number and timing chip. At packet pickup:
Complete the Rev3 Adventure waiver and the Willowsford waiver. (You can save time by printing, completing, and bringing the waiver with you, or you may have already signed them online at registration.)
Have your confirmation email open on your phone or printed out for scanning.
Pick up your bib, T-shirt, and other swag from the nice folks at the registration tent. (If you are signed up with the discounted three- or six-race option, you will only get one T-shirt for the series.)
Get ready to race!
Runners, please attach the bib to your front so that it can be clearly seen. Bikers, attach the bib to your handlebars. Your timing chip is attached to the back of your bib number. Timing chips are disposable, so feel free to keep it as a memento or toss it in the trash. All awards are based off gun time. If you are doing the run and the bike, you will get a separate bib and chip for each event.
Course The course is moderately technical.
For the trail runs, the 5K actual distance is 3.8 miles, and the 10K is actually 6.9 miles.
For the mountain bike, Newbies will do one loop, Weekend Warriors will ride 2 loops, and Trail Experts will take on 3 loops.
Young Warriors will ride the 5K run loop (3.8 miles).

Aid Stations We will have water and Gatorade on offer at an aid station on the course and at the finish line.
Gear For the Spring Thaw 5K and 10K, you will need a pair of running shoes and your normal running attire. For the mountain bikes races you’ll need a bike and a helmet (CPSC, ANSI, or SNELL certified). A water bottle or CamelBak-type device is highly recommended.
Post-Race Food and Beer By now you know Willowsford’s chefs don’t mess around. They’re planning a protein power bowl with baby spinach, baked beans, sun dried cherries, pistachios, hard boiled egg, and local goat cheese, topped with antibiotic free chicken breast or tempeh. You can wash it all down with beer from Old Bust Head Brewery.
Helping Out If you are bringing friends and family and they would like to volunteer, we are looking for people to help marshal the course and run aid stations. Volunteers are very much appreciated by all—organizers and racers alike. To show our gratitude, Rev3 Adventure will give all volunteers an event T-shirt and a discount toward any of our other races in 2016. Volunteers can sign up here. Staff and racers will be super grateful!
