Spring Thaw at Conway Race-Day Info

Hi Trail Racers,

For those of you racing in this Saturday’s Spring Thaw Trail Series races at Conway Robinson, you will find all the race-day information you need in this email. Please be sure to like us on Facebook. We post the most up-to-date information there. Also check out our Instagram and SnapChat (rev3adventure) accounts!

Note that due to popular request and daylights savings time having kicked in, the trail runs will start at 8:00 am. The mountain bike races will start at 10:00 am. Also, if necessary, the rain date is April 23. It is unlikely we will reschedule this Saturday, but if so, we will let you know by 5:00 am Saturday via email and a post to our Facebook page.

Please spread the word that we offer online registration and race-day registration for the March 19 events at Conway Robinson State Forest and the April 9 races at The Grant. We can take cash, check, and credit cards on site.

Changing Event Dates and Categories If you would like to switch to a different date, category, or distance or transfer your entry to someone else, you can log into your Active.com account or follow the link in your confirmation email. There will be no refunds to switch to a shorter-distance event. There is a small transfer fee to change events. Transfers can be made up until race day.

Race-Day Packet Pickup Before you race you will need to pick up your bib number and timing chip. At packet pickup:

  1. Complete the Rev3 Adventure waiver. (You can save time by printing, completing, and bringing the waiver with you, or you may have already signed them online at registration.)

  2. Have your confirmation email open on your phone or printed out for scanning.

  3. Pick up your bib, T-shirt, and other swag from the nice folks at the registration tent. (If you are signed up with the discounted three- or six-race option, you will only get one T-shirt for the series.)

  4. Get ready to race!

Runners, please attach the bib to your front so that it can be clearly seen. Bikers, attach the bib to your handlebars. Your timing chip is attached to the back of your bib number. Timing chips are disposable, so feel free to keep it as a memento or toss it in the trash. All awards are based off gun time. If you are doing the run and the bike, you will get a separate bib and chip for each event.

Course The course is moderately technical.

  • 5K actual distance is a single-loop 5K.

  • 10K route is 2 loops of the 5K course.

  • Mountain bikers will complete as many laps as possible in the allotted time for their division. Most laps and fastest times determine placing. Newbies (3.1-mile laps on the Blue trail) cannot start the last lap after 60 minutes; Weekend Warriors (3.3-mile laps on the back Orange trail) can’t take another lap after 90 minutes; and Experts (3.3-mile laps on the back Orange trail) cannot start their last lap after 120 minutes.

  • Young Warriors will ride one 3.1-mile lap on the Blue trail.

  • Course map for the trail runs can be found here. Course map for the MTB races can be found here.

Aid Stations We will have water and Gatorade on offer at an aid station on the course and at the finish line.

Gear For the Spring Thaw 5K and 10K, you will need a pair of running shoes and your normal running attire. For the mountain bikes races you’ll need a bike and a helmet (CPSC, ANSI, or SNELL certified). A water bottle or CamelBak-type device is highly recommended.

Post-Race Refreshment Think breakfast—bagels, bananas, and oranges.

Helping Out If you are bringing friends and family and they would like to help in any way, we are looking for people to help marshal the course and run aid stations. Volunteers are very much appreciated by all—organizers and racers alike. To show our gratitude, Rev3 Adventure will give all volunteers an event T-shirt and a discount toward any of our other races in 2016. Volunteers can sign uphere. Staff and racers will be super grateful!

Sponsors Be sure to stop by and say hi to our on-site sponsors. Trail Series sponsor Merrell will have some swag to give out to participants, andMoe’s Southwest Grill will have salsa and chips for you. A-1 Cycling will be on site again for last-minute tune ups and bike assistance. Other swag includes Trail Toes samples and a Hüga Bar at check-in! And maybe you’ll win the raffle prize provided by one of our sponsors. We have some fabulous sponsors—local and nationwide—and we can’t wait to share the swag, prizes, and benefits they offer our participants.

Thanks again for choosing Rev3 Adventure. We look forward to seeing you on race day.
