Shenandoah Epic Weekend Racer Information
It is almost time for the Shenandoah Epic weekend. We are very excited and have been working hard to make sure you have the best adventure experience possible. Please refer to your specific race web page for schedules and race information.
A few important updates have been added to the web pages in the past few days. Please make sure you re-read all the race information on the web page. Some changes are highlighted below:
Epic
• TA drop bag information has been added to the Transitions section.
• A bike lock has been added as suggested gear (not mandatory).
• Information on race tracking and GPS devices has been added.
• Medical history form has been added.
Strong
• Bike lights have been added as mandatory gear.
• Headlamp or flashlight has been added as mandatory gear.
AquaBlaze

• Information for transition between paddle and trek has been added.
Family

All the information you need to complete the race will be in your race packets (given to you at check-in on race day) and will be covered during the pre-race brief.
Outlined below are some additional details that will help the registration process and the rest of your experience go smoothly.
It looks like we will be treated to great weather conditions. Remember to pack sunscreen, lip balm, and sunglasses. Dress in layers; it will be cool at times.
The river is still cold (48 degrees), so if you end up taking a swim (and some of you will), make sure you have a change of clothes (including shoes) and a towel.
River conditions look good and it is flowing swiftly. We expect to see some fast paddle times.
We have seen a few ticks while setting the course. Make sure you wear insect repellent, especially around your ankles.
As a heads up, once you pass Front Royal, AT&T is the only cellular service that works.
Parking
Everyone will be parking at Downriver Canoe Company (884 Indian Hollow Road, Bentonville), but read below for specific locations according to your event. Please watch your speed and follow parking directions. We have races going on all weekend, so racers may be in and around that area as you come and go.
Epic racers will be parking on the left-hand side of the road opposite Downriver Canoe Company. This lot will also act as your transition area.
Aqua Blaze, Strong, & Family racers will be parking at Downriver Canoe Company in the large field next to the main finish area.
Aqua Blaze, Strong, & Family Packet Pickup
Before the race you will need to pick up your race packet. Packet pickup is located at Downriver Canoe Company. At packet pickup:
1. Everyone must complete a Rev3 Adventure waiver and a USARA waiver. If you completed a Rev3 Adventure waiver online, you do not fill one out at packet pickup. Check the roster to see if you need a Rev3 Adventure waiver. You can download the Rev3 Adventure waiver here.
Everyone will need to complete a USARA waiver. You can download the waiver here. If you do not have a USARA membership or have not paid for the USARA one-day license online, you will need to do so at packet pickup. For families, only racers 16 and older are required to buy the license for $8, but everyone will need to complete a USARA waiver.
2. Find your bib number on the printout at the registration area or look on your specific racer roster on-line here (under "See Who Is Racing").
3. Pick up your race packet from the registration table.
4. Pick up your T-shirt.
5. Once you have your packet, check in with the timing tent, which will be located near the RV. We will need to clear your ePunch and do a final check in.
6. Strong racers stage their gear in the transition area. This will include anything you will need for the biking leg of the race including bike, helmet, bike shoes, extra food, and water.
7. Attend the pre-race brief.
8. Get ready to race!
Epic Packet Pickup
Epic 26-hour racers, we will see you on Friday night at the VFW (1847 N Royal Ave) in Front Royal between 5:00pm and 7:30pm for packet pickup and then the pre-race brief at 7:30pm. You must have all forms for all your team members before we will give you your race packet. You can download all required forms from the race web page.
Extra Fun
Please help us support the Warren County Backpack Program by bringing in non-perishable, kid-friendly food items for hungry little bellies in our area. This wonderful local program sends a hungry child home each week with a backpack containing enough food to keep them fed over the summer. Healthy single-serve items and bulk items (such as mac & cheese, soup, fruit cups and applesauce, shelf-stable milk, juice boxes, crackers, peanut butter, canned pasta, raisins and other dried fruit, fruit snacks, cereal, oatmeal, and the like) are all welcome. We’ll have a donation box at the start line this Epic weekend. Please help if you can!
